Learning Resource Consultations
Inspired from the mandate of the Resource Centre, specifically the promotion of " reflecting a vision of learning in the society of the future by providing cutting-edge information on emerging trends in teaching/learning technologies ", the Educational resource advisors work in synergy to realize this objective and provide an environment conductive of the quality that students in the Faculty of Education have come to expect. The advisors offer their knowledge and expertise in supporting students who use the various resources available in the Centre. You are encouraged to consult with one of our advisors in the event you have an idea in mind, require guidance, searching for an expert opinion or simply want to offer a suggestion.
Documentary Resources
The Educational Resource Advisor (documentation) offers consultation and information services on various subjects:
- Documentary research (as indicated in section entitled Documentary Research Assistance)
- Classification systems, Dewey system
- Use of various learning resources in the Centre, such as: Educational kits, Ministry of Education documentation, children’s literature, pedagogical guides and general printed material
- The various rules and procedures with regards to borrowing materials: patron file, renewals, late fees, reserves, electronic reminders, etc.
- Offers workshops geared towards various services offered in the Centre as well as documentary research
Computing Resources
The Educational Resource Advisor (informatics) offers the following consultation and information services:
- Ministry of Education software and regulations regarding its use and borrowing rights
- Software installed in the computer labs
- Computer account creation, use of the Faculty’s network
- Creation of shared server space for classes in the Faculty
- Multimedia podiums and projectors in the computer labs
- RELMON printer and wireless internet access in the Centre
- Offers workshops on the use of the Centre’s various computing resources
Multimedia Resources
The Educational Resource Advisor (Multimedia) can assist you with:
- Offers multimedia workshops in the use of various multimedia resources in the Centre (multimedia workstations, mobile equipment, etc.).
- Offers a consultation services for professors who wish to include multimedia-based technologies or activities in their classrooms.
- Suggests other resources for multimedia based training (online tutorials, interactive software, technical sheets, etc.).
- Emerging technologies in computing and multimedia sectors such as blogs, web forums, opensource software, etc.
Finally, don’t hesitate to schedule an appointment or present yourself directly to one of the advisors available in the Centre. Their primary task is to field the various questions coming from Faculty students and staff as well as facilitating and promoting the use of the Centre’s many resources. It’s up to you to profit from their expertise!
