Computer and Multimedia Resources




Equipment

In order to foster the integration of technologies in Education, the Faculty of Education Resource Centre gives you access to a variety of multimedia equipment. This equipment is reserved for the students and staff of the Faculty of Education.


  • Faculty of Education computer labs (LMX 248, 250, 251)

    3 labs containing IBM and Macintosh computers are located in the Resource Centre. Multimedia equipment, including LCD projectors and VCRs are available in each computer lab. Education students can use computers during Centre's opening hours when there is no class given in the lab. A RELMON printer is located in LMX 249.

  • Faculty of Education Graduate Sudents computer lab (LMX 260)

    This new lab (opened in September 2006) is located at LMX 260. It contains 21 IBM computers and 1 Macintosh. Access is permitted only for Faculty of Education graduate students.

  • Computer workstations

    9 computers (8 IBM and 1 Macintosh), located near the undergraduate labs, are accessible on a first come first served basis during opening hours.

  • Multimedia workstations

    In order to help with the creation of good quality teaching material, 6 multimedia workstations have been configured. These units contain a number of resources allowing the integration of images, sounds, written text and even video to produce new pedagogical materials. The different media elements can be viewed whether they emanate from CD-ROMs, the Internet, videocassettes, Cable in the Classroom, photographs, etc.

  • Mobile equipment

    For your classroom presentations or to create multimedia materials, to complete the multimedia workstation equipment, a wide variety of technological equipment is available at the circulation desk : digital cameras, LCD projectors, laptop computers, etc.

  • Portable Computer Labs

    3 portable carts (each comprising 24,24 or 36 ThinkPad laptops respectively) are available for Faculty of Education professors for courses given in Lamoureux Hall. 15 of the 24 laptops in Lab “A” contain SPSS, while all 24 laptops in Lab “B” have French keyboards. All laptops are equipped with wireless internet access and Windows XP English and French. Each portable computer lab also contains an LCD projector.

    If you are interested in using these portable computer labs, please consult the Portable Computer Labs Reservation and Loan policy. A request for reservation of the portable computer labs can be done with our online form or in person at the Circulation Desk in the Resource Centre. For more information concerning the configuration, contents and software installed in each of the portable computer labs, please consult this list. Individual or group consultations are also offered by the Learning Resource Advisor (informatics) for those who wish to learn more about using the portable computer labs.

  • DVD and VHS video workstations

    Scattered across the Center, these workstations allow you to copy, transfer, record and view DVDs and VHS tapes. All workstations are equipped with basic cable and instruction sheets are available.

  • Other computer lab available on University Campus
