Research projects/seed funding (joint financing of Initiation to research and new directions (IRND)

Funding is available (maximum $6000 from the Faculty of Education) for projects that are non-renewable and oriented toward the development of larger individual or team projects to be submitted to a major external funding agency.

Most of the seed funding from the Faculty of Education is available for hiring research assistants from among full-time graduate students who are registered in the Faculty of Education. The materials and photocopy budget should not exceed $500.The researcher must limit travel expenses to a minimum and local travel expenses are not admissible.

It is not possible to submit a request directly to IRND. The Research Committee must evaluate applications before they are forwarded to the IRND. All applications to IRND must be accompanied by a Request for Funds - University Research Committee "U" form completed and signed by the vice-dean (research). Professors who accept grants from IRND must consult the relevant documentation of the University of Ottawa Research Grants and Ethics Services relating to the special requirements of these programs.
