Research Interests

ESL immigrant education, qualitative case-study research methods, language and literacy policy and planning, second language policy development, co-operative learning, teacher agency in curriculum decision making, the role of explicit grammar instruction and cognitive methods, practical approaches to social justice and equity education, critical citizenship theory, identity theory in second language education, community-based second language education programming, trends in ESL teaching methodology, language across the curriculum , learner and teacher autonomy, experiential learning and classroom task design, multiliteracies, practical pedagogical uses for technological innovation, language benchmarks and ESL curriculum guideline development, multilingual-based critiques of interlanguage, alternatives in language testing, and links between academic, professional and ESL policy decision-making bodies.
