Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies
About the programs
If you are working or would like to work in education and you are aware of the importance of innovation in this constantly evolving field, or if you want to refine your teaching methods and your professional practices, conduct research in the field or enrich your education, then the graduate programs of the Faculty of Education at the University of Ottawa can offer you many different options.
We offer a Master in Education (MEd), a Master of Arts in Education (MA[Ed]) and
a PhD in Education. These three programs are articulated around five concentrations:
- Educational Counselling
- Organizational Studies in Education
- Second Language Education
- Society, Culture and Literacies
- Teaching, Learning, and Evaluation
An interdisciplinary component can also be included as part of your research: the MA[Ed] can be combined with the Women’s Studies program and the PhD[Ed] with Canadian Studies.
Three Graduate Certificate Programs were recently introduced to provide further development options: these certificates are in Enseignement postsecondaire (in French only), Health Professions Education and Program Evaluation.
You have the option of completing your MEd in Teaching, Learning and Evaluation, or in Organizational Studies in Education, in French only, via distance education (i.e. teleconferences and Internet) or a program that is entirely online.
