Gerard Kennedy
Distinguished Visiting Professor, Ryerson University
Gerard Kennedy has a track record of accomplishment, locally, provincially and across Canada, achieved by working for and with people.
As an MPP in government he obtained funding for the revitalization of St. Joseph's Hospital, the rebuilding of Runnymede Hospital and the expansion of Four Villages community health centre, and as well as additional powers for the City of Toronto. Working with local groups, Gerard was able to realize province-wide benefits in terms of OHIP benefits for excluded Canadian born children of immigrants and school access for children caught in red tape.
As an effective Ontario Minister of Education from 2003-2006, Gerard helped to bring about a province-wide turnaround to a system previously in crisis, marked by lower class sizes for primary grades, improved student results and heightened student, staff and parent morale
