About the program
The teacher education program is a one-year full-time program that prepares students to teach in elementary or secondary schools.
It leads to a baccalaureate in education (BEd) from the University of Ottawa and to recommendation for certification by the Ontario College of Teachers valid in Ontario schools where English is the language of instruction.
The teacher education program prepares students for a great variety of jobs.For example, a graduating student could work as a professor, an academic advisor, an adult educator, a training officer or an instructor.
Divisions
The program is divided into three divisions:
- Primary/junior (kindergarten-grade 6 and French as a second language)
- Junior/intermediate (grades 4-10)
- Intermediate/senior (grades 7-12)
Students in the junior/intermediate and intermediate/senior divisions must choose one or two teaching subjects.
