Research Chair in Education and Francophone Identities
The Research Chair in Education and Francophone Identities (CREF) was created in 2005. Its mandate consists in the study of processes of school inclusion and exclusion through an interdisciplinary approach that stems from sociology of education, sociolinguistics, political sciences and anthropology.
Through its activities, the Chair brings partners together in order to identify the characteristics of an accepting school in a French minority language context and avoid putting students at risk of exclusion or marginalisation.
The Chair's research projects address students' experiences and parents' perspectives in the French minority language context, the degree of partnership between parents and schools as well as parents role in the organization of student life at school, the pedagogy of inclusion defined as a space where the children can express themselves and their expectations and needs with respect to school socialization.
